About the Division. The Division holds o linear feet of manuscripts and archives in over 5, collections. The strengths of the Division are the papers and records of individuals, families, and organizations, primarily from the New York region. The Winterthur Library was established in to furnish staff, students, and the general public with research materials about American decorative arts. Since then it has become a recognized research center for advanced study and is dedicated to the understanding and appreciation of America's artistic, cultural, social, and intellectual.
Unpublished material, drafts, notes, letters, photographs and more can be found in personal papers, manuscripts and organisational archives held at the Wellcome Library.
